Senior Security Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer with strong technical skills along with the ability to create security solutions that maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of NeoSpire’s information assets. This position contributes to NeoSpire’s success by ensuring the protection of information and information resources. This position provides day-to-day security consulting by conducting in-depth technical security reviews, risk assessments, and documenting recommendations for risk mitigation; providing guidance to system owners in the development and technical review of information security plans; developing company-wide security policy and guidelines; and providing technical guidance to information owners, customers, and colleagues.


Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement information security solutions, standards, policies and procedures that protect NeoSpire information assets.
  • Identify company-wide information security needs and collaborates with colleagues and customers to develop and implement technical solutions for information security.
  • Conducts security risk assessments of hardware, software and installed systems and networks.
  • Audit systems, event logs, and processes to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate information security incident response policies/procedures, develop internal cyber forensic expertise, and work with systems administrators to protect NeoSpire computer assets and identify violators.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of company-wide information security policy, standards and procedures for multiple platforms and diverse system environments.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining security infrastructure components such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Configuration and on-going security management of Windows, Linux and Solaris systems.
  • Proactively monitor environments and respond to alerts of system and application issues.
  • Closely control production environments to ensure stability and security.

Skill Requirements:

  • Solid knowledge and experience with TCP/IP and TCP/IP services such as SMTP, HTTP, and FTP.
  • Operating system experience with Windows Server 200x, Linux and Solaris
  • Operating experience with Active Directory, RADIUS, TACACS+, nmap, vulnerability scanning and NESSUS.
  • Application security skills
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical project specifications.
  • Ability to develop and modify Information security and change management policies.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment.
  • Web servers/ application servers, and/or messaging services functionality in a multi-tier distributed application architecture.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of IDS/IPS systems and technologies, as well as event correlation.
  • Operational experience managing Firewalls, VPNs, Virus protection, anti-spyware, data-in-transit encryption and data-at-rest encryption.
  • Experience performing security audits on services, hardware, and business processes.
  • Experience with Server hardening and firewalls.
  • Experience working with Law enforcement and cyber forensics.
  • Must be available on-call for emergencies.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to document requirements and solutions in writing
  • Ability to communicate technical information verbally
  • Superior team and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interface smoothly with clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of performing in a high stress, fast paced technical hardware/software environment.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of previous systems administration experience with Windows and Linux.
  • 1-2 years in enterprise level data security systems, preferably at a managed hosting provider.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving experience, and experience with tcpdump/ethereal or equivalent.
  • Prior experience managing Cisco PIX firewalls including IPSec VPN, implementations.
  • CISSP or other information security certifications are a plus.
