NeoSpire owns and maintains a state-of-the-art data center located in downtown Dallas, TX. By designing the facility to NeoSpire’s exacting standard and not co-locating with another provider, the highest uptime possible is ensured.
The data center has fully redundant connectivity, world-class infrastructure, state-of-the-art monitoring and security systems. NeoSpire monitors and maintains all of its own power systems, HVAC, network connectivity, advanced fire suppression systems and access control technology. Therefore NeoSpire is able to test and monitor all aspects of the data center to ensure that everything is working correctly.
Dallas Data Center
Power Systems
The electrical power system is fully redundant, consisting of dual parallel, uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and a 2,000 kW diesel backup generator – making worries about power failures a thing of the past. The Dallas CBD Power Grid and a dedicated on-site Caterpillar generator comprise NeoSpire’s power sources. Both sources are connected via copper bus duct to a PowerCon Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), which monitors and distributes power throughout the Siemens power system.
- Power for critical employee workstations and all data center, colocation center and other critical infrastructure is provided by two redundant 450kVA Liebert UPSs that are configured in a parallel configuration and stepped down by multiple transformers. Translation: uninterruptible power supply battery backups powers all servers and equipment during generator startup.
- Caterpillar 2,000kW Diesel Generator -- hospital-grade diesel generator provides for all datacenter, operations and support needs during power outages.
- Supplied with 6,000 gallons of diesel in a dedicated external tank, the generator can be refueled without shutting down.
- A 150 gallon secondary tank allows for the external tank to be isolated and refueled in order to extend generator operation.
- The generator is tested weekly to ensure optimal performance when it is needed.
Environmental Controls
The NeoSpire data center has ten (10) 30-ton Liebert HVAC systems operating with N+1 redundancy. Temperature and humidity in the data center, colocation center and power facility are controlled via a closed-loop decentralized cooling system to ensure peak performance conditions.
- 300 tons of redundant Liebert HVAC cooling capacity
- Glycol-cooled system -- a type of air conditioning system that uses freon as a refrigerant and a water/glycol solution as a condensing medium. The glycol keeps the solution from freezing during winter operation.
- Leak Detection system -- upon detection of any water near critical systems, the Leak Detection system will shut down the offending equipment and sound an alarm so that the issue can be addressed
Fire Systems
The NeoSpire data center is protected by dual fire suppression systems, while most data centers only have one type (either gas or pre-action sprinklers). NeoSpire maintains both FM200 (HFC-227ea) waterless fire suppression and Fike dry-pipe pre-action fire suppression systems, allowing NeoSpire to offer the best available fire protection.- VESDA LaserPLUS smoke and heat detectors
- FM-200 gas fire suppression -- extinguishes fires without damage to equipment (unlike water or dry chemical systems)
- FIKE dry-pipe dual interlocked, pre-action fire protection system
Physical Security
NeoSpire is committed to providing layered security to safeguard our data center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With three levels of security, entry into the data center is restricted by an access control system. Video surveillance and stringent data center escort requirements protect server access. NeoSpire is managing physical site security and the security of data information, by basing the security model on authentication, authorization and accountability.
- Access to data centers limited to essential personnel only
- 24/7 on-site security
- No visitors allowed unless signed in with security personnel
- Surveillance cameras located throughout the facility (24 hour digital recording)
- Database of individuals authorized to access the facility
- 24/7 card key access control to facility and co-location floor
- Centralized security monitoring of video and card key access control
